This CD began with the simple wish to have others sing over my music. Very quickly it struck several of us to do something special with this special music, and the idea of the “Songs for Jenny” ALS charity CD was born. I can tell you that Jenny was thrilled everyone was making this CD for her. I wish she could have seen and heard the final CD, but she did get to hear many of the songs before she passed away. I am indebted to and thankful for those who performed on this CD; believe me, their talent is matched by their beautiful and loving souls. It has been my great blessing to be able to communicate and work with all of you. I could write loving testimonials to you all. Additionally, those who performed had people assisting them, friends and family with recording studios and the like, and I owe these people thanks as well.
Many people helped get this CD off of the ground financially; I’d especially like to thank Mike Anderson, Kevin Lane Keller, Dave Barnard, Sherry Maze, Mike Pucci and Judy Pucci, for going beyond the call of duty and putting their money where their heart is.
There are countless others to thank for many reasons, and I’ll keep a running tally at the website for that, but I have to give a big shout out to SueC and Chuck Hoehn, their assistance and friendship during creating this CD was immeasurable. A continued “thank you” to Robert Rankin Walker of Heyday Records for believing that my music has a place in this world. Guy David has promoted the “Songs for Jenny” CD every week on his podcast, thank you my friend!
And what a thrill it was for me to get to know Annie Haslam! She kindly and generously donated her original and beautiful painting “Jenny’s Lake” to Jenny herself, and it hung on Jenny’s bedroom wall, lending a soothing hand and letting Jenny know she was loved by so many. Annie, thank you, your painting helped me thematically focus this CD in my mind, and I’m happy to be able to use it as part of this CD’s artwork. I would be lost without Stefan Horlitz, who did the CD artwork layout. Thank you for your artistic eye, talent and ability to meet a deadline, my friend.
My sister, Jenny, passed away quietly in her sleep in May 2008, after suffering from ALS, or Lou Gehrig‘s Disease, for 5 years. Her bravery in facing the terrible effects of ALS have been an inspiration to her entire family. It is my hope that someday no family or person will have to endure such a tragedy in the future. Hopefully, "Songs for Jenny" will be a big step in making that day a reality. Life is too short, people. Love fiercely those you hold dear. Peace and Love, Tony Pucci
